Popular Rolex Models
Submariner – A true watch icon copied by many but never bettered. The Rolex Submariner was originally designed with the diver in mind, but quickly became a design classic, the watch of choice in many James Bond films over the years. Today’s Submariners are still true to the original design launched back in 1954. Models such as the Submariner Ceramic, Non Date and the green on green version nicknamed “The Hulk” are all popular with today’s watch buyers.
Daytona – Along with the Submariner, the Cosmograph Daytona is a mechanical chronograph wristwatch manufactured by Rolex since 1963 and has cemented its reputation an icon of watch design. Paul Newman sporting a 6239 model Daytona on and off the screen as led the Daytona to be the most desirable of Rolex watches with millions being paid at auction. Many variations exist today with the black and white dial Ceramic models being particularly in demand.
GMT-Master I / II – Originally produced for professional Pan-Am pilots in the 1950s to allow them to keep track of multiple time zones, its functionality and rugged good looks soon attracted a wider traveling public. Since then it has gained tremendous popularity. Several models have gained cult status such as the “Coke - black/red” and “Pepsi – blue/red” bezel combinations and more recently the “Batman” model (Black/Blue Bezel) being highly sought after.
Datejust – Launched in 1945 the Datejust is one of the most popular Rolex watches. It was the first watch in the world to have an automatic changing date function. It comes in many sizes from (26mm to 36mm) and finishes (steel, various colour golds) with different bracelet options. From understated to more luxurious statement models the Datejust covers it all.
Sky-Dweller – Launched in 2012, the Sky-Dweller is currently the most complex watch made by Rolex. It has the ability to track two time zones as well as having an Annual Calendar which will take into account 30 and 31 day months. It is available in several combinations of steel and gold.
Sea-Dweller – Launched back in 1967 for the professional marine diver. It can assist divers to keep safe in up to 4000 feet deep water. A Deepsea version provides waterproofing up to 12,800 feet. Like the Submariner the Sea-Dweller has gone on to become a classic sports timepiece.
Yacht-Master I / II – This model is a relative newcomer to the Rolex range. Influenced by the world of sailing, this stylish alternative to the Submariner comes in different sizes and finishes.
